Brevity

Stay with him until I get there. These are the words my brother spoke to me on the phone after his son had been air lifted to a hospital with head trauma he received in an auto accident. He knew without doubt that is exactly what I would do.

Seven words.Sometimes too many words get in the way. Those words were a command and a plea at the same time.He had entrusted me with what he loved most in this world. His child. He was in a place far away where he could not console or give comfort and all he could do was ask me to do that for him.

No,sometimes it just doesn’t take much.I know now that when my father leaves this world and moves on to the next those are the exact words I will pray to Jesus.

Stay with him until I get there.
